Job Summary
# Job Summary
This posting is being used to fill four (4) seasonal, part-time (90%) NR Worker positions, with normal season dates from May 16th through September 4th each year. Typical work week varies with work shifts between 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Work days include weekends and holidays.
This position performs a variety of tasks involved in routine operations and maintenance of the state park.
Responsibilities include:
* Greet park visitors and provide basic information to visitors and callers (e.g. give map of park and direction to campsite, answer most commonly-asked questions).
* Collect fees for state park vehicle permits, camping lodging, boat/bike rental, firewood and park merchandise.
* Perform simple record keeping tasks (e.g., complete routine forms, write notes and messages).
* Assist with park merchandise (e.g., mark prices, stock shelves, and help customers find items).
* Perform routine cleaning tasks (e.g., wash windows, floors, walls, ceilings, toilets, fixtures, vehicles).
* Collect and dispose of litter and other waste products (e.g., pick up trash, empty garbage cans, clean ashes from fire rings).
Qualifications
## Minimum Qualifications:
* Ability to effectively communicate with the public and other employees.
* Ability to comprehend and follow simple oral and written instructions.
* Ability to withstand exposure to adverse weather and/or environmental conditions.
* Ability to use various cleaning supplies and other chemicals.
## Preferred Qualifications:
* Knowledge of Minnesota State Park rules and facilities.
* Experience in retail operations.
* Experience operating a cash register.
## Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. Even though the weights being lifted may only be a negligible amount, a job is in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.
