Job Summary
Job Summary
Minnesota Specialty Health System (MSHS) in Willmar is seeking a Mental Health Practitioner to join our team in providing rehabilitation and supportive residential services for individuals with serious mental illness and possible co-occurring disorders.
This position shall perform specific tasks to improve functional skills of clients in providing safe, quality and supportive residential services to Serious and Persistent Mentally Ill consumers. The mental health practitioner provides on-going technical direction and/or is the lead worker for treatment service delivery, under the direction of the clinical supervisor.
This position works closely with other members of the treatment team, community, family, and consumers while assisting in reintegration and placement into the community. Reports to and works under the direction of the Program Manager and RN Lead.
**Job Duties:**
* Assess the needs of newly admitted clients and assist with identifying their goals in order to develop an individualized treatment plan designed to correct negative behaviors.
* Guide program staff in the implementation of treatment plans and personal interactions with residents to develop and reinforce adaptive behaviors.
* Conduct skill development activities to help individuals improve skills needed for discharge, such as cooking, personal hygiene, budgeting, and household organization.
* Assist with provisions of reintegration and placement into the community to promote consumers' independence, autonomy, personal responsibility, and personal control.
* Participate as a team member to coordinate and collaborate consistently with established team operations.
* Serve as lead worker to ensure delivery of the medication program and other services during a designated shift.
* Provide transportation to clients to achieve the goals of the individual service plan, including proper utilization of a state vehicle.
Qualifications
## Minimum Qualifications:
* At least two years of experience designing, implementing, and documenting behavior modification programs for developmentally delayed and/or mentally ill clients (A bachelor's degree in psychology or closely related field may substitute for one year of experience);
* Knowledge of medications and medication control procedures sufficient to identify behavioral concerns which may be related to medications, or the need for medication;
* Possess and maintain a valid driver's license;
* Meet the requirements for a Mental Health Practitioner, as described below.
Mental Health Practitioner means a person providing services to individuals with mental illness and who is qualified in at least one of the following ways:
A) Holds a bachelor's degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university and:
1. has at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness: or
2. is fluent in the non-English language of the ethnic group to which at least 50 percent of the practitioner's clients belong, completes 40 hours of training in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness, and receives clinical supervision from a mental health professional at least once a week until the requirement of 2,000 hours of supervised experience is met;
B) Has at least 6,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness;
C) Is a graduate student in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields and is formally assigned by an accredited college or university to an agency or facility for clinical training; or
D) Holds a master's or other graduate degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university and has less than 4,000 hours post-master's experience in the treatment of mental illness.
