Job Summary
# Job Summary
This seasonal, part time 80% position will be responsible for building and grounds maintenance at Split Rock Creek State Park. Days and hours of work will vary and will include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Season dates are typically April 18th - September 4th, each year
* Custodial Maintenance: Perform cleaning tasks in all public use buildings, restrooms, grounds facilities, re-stock supplies, use cleaning materials/equipment safely, keep shop and service area clean and orderly.
* Building and Facility Maintenance: Clean, repair and or replace, picnic tables, wood and metal signs, and similar small structures. Repair damaged windows/doors. Scrape, caulk, and paint buildings and facilities.
* Grounds Maintenance: Mow, rake, trim bushes, treat weeds, pick up and dispose of trash, litter, recycle materials, ash, and other debris throughout the park, including grills and fire rings; inspect and clean dumpsters, garbage cans and recycling barrels as needed; seed, sod, plant and transplant vegetation as directed.
* Equipment Maintenance and Operation: Service, maintain, and perform minor repairs on equipment, tools and shop facilities so they are safe and dependable; Perform routine and basic maintenance on vehicles and other park equipment per manufacturer or maintenance schedule; clean equipment and tools and store where appropriate at the end of each day; lead other seasonal staff in the safe and efficient use of tools, vehicles and equipment; complete equipment and repair reports and daily unit diaries and keep maintenance schedules current. Operate all equipment safely per department policies, state laws, manufacturers recommendations, OSHA requirements and as directed by supervisor.
* Communication, Interpersonal Skills and Cooperative Teamwork: participate in a work environment free from harassment, seek out and use other's expertise; demonstrate respect for others, contribute to decision-making processes
* Safety: Participate in day to day safety discussions, and work according to established safety procedures to reduce and eliminate personal injuries and damage to equipment.
Qualifications
## Minimum Qualifications:
* Ability to operate a motor vehicle, lawn mower, small hand tools, and other equipment and tools sufficient to perform assigned duties.
* Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions on labels, in manuals and procedures; sufficient to use materials/chemicals correctly and safely.
* Ability to effectively communicate with the public and other employees.
* Ability to become certified in Basic Chain Saw use.
* Ability to operate a tractor, ATV, and chain saw.
## Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience performing routine maintenance on small engines, vehicles, and other equipment and tools.
* Basic chainsaw certification.
* Basic Wildland firefighting certification
* Work experience safely loading and pulling a utility tractor on public roadways.
* Experience repairing equipment such as chainsaws, vehicles, tractor, ATV, lawn mowers and small hand tools.
* First aid and CPR training.
## Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally lifting articles such as 50 pound bags maximum and frequently lifting and/or carrying objects such as heavy tools and file boxes. This job may require walking or standing to a significant degree on rough terrain or may involve sitting most of the time with pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls.
## Additional Requirements
*This position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver's License with a clear driving record*
